ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Scaling in transistor geometries going beyond nano meters have not only led to growth of VLSI technology but also have created unprecedented demand for new and innovative electronic products that can enhance the living conditions of mankind. According to the survey conducted jointly by Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) and Ernst & Young, the semiconductor design industry is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of around 22% during 2012-2015. Further, a new research report by RNCOS, “Global Semiconductor Market Forecast to 2015”, says that the global semiconductor industry is driven by the massive use of electronic applications in almost each and every other industry. Some of the industrial sectors that directly employ electronic applications include automotive, aircraft, telecommunication, and wireless devices, etc. With increase in future demand for electronics and requirements in new application areas, the semiconductor market is expected to sustain high growth momentum. According to industry experts, the Indian VLSI and Embedded industry requires anywhere between 20,000 and 40,000 highly trained engineers at present.
